I have been a member of the Roosters Foundation of Orange County since 2001. It is a non-profit foundation of 100 men who volunteer their time and talent to support needy and at risk children in Orange County, CA. http://www.roostersfoundation.org
In 2015, we presented grant checks of $150,000.00 to several local charities to support the work they do with needy children and their families. The organizations include Boys & Girls Clubs and other small non-profit groups like food pantries and soup kitchens.
We raise this money with two fund-raising events, member donations, corporate donations and grants.
Our Annual Holiday Dinner Food Drive has provided a complete Holiday meal with a turkey, fresh produce and other food items to feed a family of 10. I am proud to be chair of this event for the past several years. This is our 20th year on December 20, 2015 and we will be filling 3,500 boxes with a turkey, fresh produce and other items to feed a family of 10. We have provided almost 40,000 meals to local families. The food boxes are given to dozens of local non-profits to distribute to families that they support.
I am most proud of teaching my teenage grandson by example that we have an obligation to help less fortunate. He, along with the rest of my family has been helping at the food since he was 5 years old.
